An AIA150 Blueprints for America Initiative
The 2007 Submission Awards
Dear Participants;
We thank everyone for participating in this exercise of multi-jurisdictional planning around sustainability.
With had 6 strong ideas come forth, one needing to wait another year due to time constraints, and finally, as promised, 3 awards going to:
* Designing Sustainable North-Central Muskegon County
* Holland Area Gateway
* Division Avenue Revitalization
Congratulations!
All 5 were very strong concepts. All submissions are now viewable online. Go to http://www.aiagv.net/documents/295.html
Our jury was carefully selected to be unbiased and knowledgeable of our charrette process and commitments to AIA and WMSA. They were:
Katie Kahl, Green Infrastructure PM - West Michigan Strategic Alliance;
Jeff Hammond, AIA Grand Valley Past President - Spectrum Health Facilities;
Dennis King, FAIA, AIA Michigan President- Harley Ellis Devereaux Corp.
We attach also the jury comments, and they noted all were very remarkable.
NEXT STEPS
On Friday, February 16 from noon to 1:30pm we will host a kick-off lunch with the jurisdictional team leader and a representative of each participating jurisdiction.
We will send a separate email to you with the location, which we will locate central to all. This will allow us to go over details, expectations and provide lists of the type of information about your area that will be useful.
Each Jurisdictional team will receive a $1,500.00 mini-grant from WMSA to be distributed between you as you wish for your time, travel expenses, etc. All other costs of the charrette are provided for.
Those who were not awarded, or had to decline, we hope you will follow this process with interest, and attend the October Natural Connections Summit, where next years process will start and the outcomes of this year will be shared.
Please also put on your calendar the days of the WMRUD Charrette, April 12, 13, & 14, beginning at 8am. Other dates in between will be announced.
Again, thank you for your interest in ”creating a regional mindset“.
Any questions should be directed to me, Bob Daverman
