SELECTION CRITERIA (To be eligible you must agree on the following points:)
1. The area selected can be any combination of urban city, village, or township. But the area selected must be multi-jurisdictional. A minimum of 2 governmental units are required for a proposal to be considered.
2. Because this is framed by PA 226, no single jurisdiction sites will be considered, no matter how significant.
3. One point of contact is required for each jurisdiction (typically the planning director).
4. The governing body of each participating governmental unit must give formal permission to the Planning Director to participate.
5. Each participating unit must commit time from the planning staff and provide information to the charrette team.
6. Each participating unit must have planning staff in attendance for the 2-1/2 day charrette.
7. Identify community stakeholders and invite them to the charrette. A maximum of 24 participants from any one charrette team will be observed due to space constraints.
8. With assistance by member(s) of the charrette team, participants agree to present the charrette outcomes jointly to their partnering planning commissions within 90-120 days of the charrette.
9. Present the outcomes of your charrette at the Natural Connections Summit 2007.
10. A 1-year checkup on the benefits, hurdles, and lessons learned conducted by the AIAGV/WMSA team.
11. The counties that can participate in the WMRUD charrette are within the focus areas that the West Michigan Strategic Alliance are bounded: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa. This is also technically the Metropolitan Statistical Area. (11.10.06)
